First and foremost, I want to take a quick moment of silence for Joe "The Yankee Clipper" DiMaggio.... #5 is gone, but will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace and enjoy eternity with the other Yankee greats who sadly went before him.

Baseball - my only favorite spectator sport. Throughout all of the strikes and salary caps and money making schemes, I still love the game.

Oh, in case I failed to mention, my favorite team is, and has always been the New York Yankees. I have always liked the Yanks, even during the dry decade (namely the 1980's). My favorite player was/is Don Mattingly because he never struck me as a player for the money -- he always seemed to play for the game, and for the fans. Bet you can't say that about Steve Avery or Albert Belle, or most any other pro-baseball player in this country.

To most, I seem to be a confused person, and I always laugh at that remark. I'm a Confederate by heritage and by belief, but I am a fan of the New York Yankees... don't ask me, cuz I can't tell ya. I have already planned out my yearly homage to the Big Apple to go to the House that Ruth Built and shell out 5.25 for a beer... well, um... maybe I'll save my 5.25... but I'm still headed up to New York. Hopefully this year will be a repeat for the Yanks, but then again, all the other teams deserve a chance. (Maybe someone should tell that to the Braves, who seem to like to try to go to the Series every year...)

Regardless, baseball still is the best in pro-sports, and hopefully it will regain it's Number One status in the eyes of the American Public soon...
